| A native of Oregon, Alisa Peterson
possesses a rich Italianate soprano voice. Alisa just place second in
the Rochester Oratorio Classical Idol Competition. Recently, she
sang the role of Minnie from The Prospector with L.A. Opera’s Education
Program. She performs a opera gala with Union City Opera in May. Other
performances for the 2011 season included Donna Elvira (cover) in Don
Giovanni and Vivaldi’s Gloria with the Festival of the Voice, followed
by the title role in Martin Halpern’s new opera, Mrs. Middleman’s
Descent. Mr. Halpern invited Alisa to sing in two of his other operas,
Lock of Hair and The Dwarf Trees at the New York New Church in
Manhattan. This season Alisa performed the Mozart Coronation Mass with
the Rochester Oratorio Society. Alisa performed two concerts at Carnegie Hall, John Rutter’s Requiem and Haydn’s Kleine Orgelmesse. She also sang gala concerts with Union City Opera in New Jersey, the University of Utah, and the Southern Nevada Arts Society. In 2010, Alisa made her role debut as Adina in L’elisir d’amore with Opera Las Vegas. Other career highlights include the title role in Giacomo Puccini’s Suor Angelica and Poppea in L’incoronazione di Poppea with La Musica Lirica in Novafeltria and Pesaro, Italy; Giulia in Gilbert & Sullivan’s Gondoliers and Gabriella in La Rondine with Utah Opera; Musetta in La Bohème with Sandy City Symphony; and Countess in Le Nozze di Figaro with Paradigm Chamber Orchestra. Alisa was also featured as Isabelle/Madeline in The Face on the Bar Room Floor with Opera Las Vegas and Flora/Violetta cover in La Traviata with Nevada Opera Theatre. A consummate concert artist, Alisa has sung the Dvorak Requiem at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Salt Lake City; Haydn’s Creation and Lord Nelson Mass, and John Rutter’s Mass of the Children with Salt Lake Choral Artists; Valeri Kikta’s La Luce delle Tacite Stelle with the Utah Harp Ensemble; Mozart’s Coronation Mass and Regina Coeli at Guardian Angel Cathedral in Las Vegas; and the Nevada premiere of songs by visiting Turkish composer, Koray Sazli. Alisa’s ventures into new music include Schoenberg’s 2nd String Quartet as part of the Intermezzo Chamber Music Series with members of the Utah Symphony, work with Canyonlands New Music Ensemble on Pulitzer Prize-winning Yehudi Wyner’s song cycle, On This Most Voluptuous Night, in conjunction with the composer’s visit to Salt Lake City in October 2006, as well as a performance of Milton Babbit’s Phonemena. She has premiered works by composers Igor Iachimciuc, Brian Crosby, Sam Richards and Marie Grudzien. She most also appeared with conductor Brady Allred in Tan Dun’s Water Passion after St. Matthew at Libby Gardner Concert Hall in Salt Lake City. Alisa was a finalist in the Rocky Mountain Region of the 2007 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and Berkshire Opera’s Resident Artist Program, where she played Gretel in Hänsel & Gretel. Ms. Peterson received her M.M. in Vocal Performance from the University of Utah. Alisa is fluent in Italian, and enjoys tennis, running, and the outdoors. 4/1/2012 |
