Praised for his “dark, rolling baritone“(Münchener Merkur) and “soft and compact timber“(Corriere del Ticino), Italian baritone Nicola Ziccardi is a sought-after performer throughout Europe.
Under the baton of Maestro Gustav Kuhn, Ziccardi had become a regular member of the Tiroler Festspiele Erl. In February 2018 He made his debut in Teatro La Fenice of Venice in Die Lustige Witwe directed by Damiano Michieletto and conducted by Montanari, in March 2018 he performed Taddeo in Italiana in Algeri directed by Vizioli and conducted by Pasqualetti in Teatro Verdi of Pisa and Teatro Sociale of Rovigo.
In December 2017 and Jenaury 2018 Ziccardi performed Marcello in La Boheme in Tiroler Festspiele Erl conducted by Gustav Kuhn and Figaro in Barber of Seviglia conducted by Andreas Leisner and Directed by Gustav Kuhn.
In the summer of 2019 Ziccardi made his debut in Mozart concerts at Wiener Staatsoper and musikverein Goldener Saal
In November 2019 made his debut of Figaro of Le Nozze di Figaro of mozart in Teatro Goldoni of Livorno and will perform it again in 2021 in Teatro Verdi di Pisa and Teatro del Giglio Lucca . In Jenuary 2020 he performed the role of Leporello of Don Giovanni in Teatro Verdi di Pisa with the Direction of Cristina Pezzoli and conducted by Erina Yashima . He performed Leporello as well in march 2020 in another production with Opera 2001 in Massy Opera in Paris and other several Theater in French and Spain .
Ziccardi’s first role following his studies was singing Prosdocimo in Rossini’s Il turco in Italia in a co-production between the Tito Gobbi Association and “La Scala Academy” of Milan, which was performed at the National Theater in Rome. His further Rossini credits include Figaro in Il Barbiere di Siviglia in Rome along with Blansac in Scala di seta as part of the Ticino Music Festival at the Congress Palace of Lugano under the musical direction of Umberto Finazzi.
He has sung Uberto in La serva padrona by Pergolesi at several theaters in Italy, such as the Theater dell’Aquila in Fermo. He has received high acclaim for his interpretation of the Count in Le nozze di Figaro, which he has performed in Wales (UK) as well as at the Mela Theater in Trieste and the Giovanni da Udine Theater.
Ziccardi studied at the Conservatory of Music in Campobasso with Anna Vandi Gaggiotti and continued his training at the Fermo Conservatory with Nazzareno Antinori. He also attended the Ateneo Internazionale della Lirica in Sulmona for a year of study with Luciana Serra, Bernadette Manca di Nissa, Umberto Finazzi, Carmela Remigio and Leone Magiera.
In 2014 Nicola was heard singing Marcello in La Boheme in Munich, Germany; Soon after, he was a finalist at the International Competition at Pienza City, which was lead by Rolando Panerai. As the winner of the Milano international Competition, Nicola went on to perform the role of Masetto in Don Giovanni in Milan (January 2015).
In 2015 Nicola made his debut at Teatro Stabile, in Potenza Italy as Schaunard in La Bohème. This successfull production was conducted by Joshua Dos Santos and directed by Alberto Paloscia.
Earlier this year he made his debut as Ortel in Die Meistersinger von Nuernberg at the Tiroler Festspiele Erl, under the baton of Maestro Gustav Kuhn. In october 2015 will be singing again Ortel once again and covering Kothner in the Premier World Production at the Beijing Music Festival.
After his experience in China, Mr. Ziccardi made in November 2015 his debut of Germont in La Traviata in Miami .
In 2016 Nicola made debut of the role of Lethold in William Tell; Papageno in The Magic Flute and Donner in Das Rheingold for the Tiroler Festspiele’s summer Opera Festival.
Ziccardi recorded a DVD with ORF of Guglielmo Tell conducted by Gustav Kuhn and recorded a CD of Adelina composed by Generali.
As a Director Ziccardi staged La Boheme in Milano (2017), Le nozze di Figaro(2019) at Teatro Savoia Campobasso, Il cappello di Paglia di Firenze(2016) and madama butterfly (2020) and “Covid fan tutte”
